Understanding Holland from an Artistic

Every time a country is reintroduced, I change the content slightly.
The reason is because from the first class, you will have more knowledge about the country
(yes! The teacher has to prepare the class~)
and the big and small things in the world happen every day,
so the update information will also be added to the class middle.
“Netherlands” I went through three times in different classes,
and I found that each time the focus was different. In addition to the basic introduction of Holland.

Just before the exhibition, I was a student for half a day to listen to the pre-exhibition salon of “Into the Starry Night,
Meet Van Gogh” explained by Mr. Guo.

It must be said that the pre-exhibition listening is really important for both adults and children,
because if you don’t do some homework,
many (almost every single one….)exhibition sites in Taiwan can only “feel with your heart”….

The story of Van Gogh is intense. The general impression is: Impressionism, madness, ear cutting, suicide…
How do I present such content to preschool children in the classroom?
I have been thinking about this question for a long time..
If it is too one-sided “keywords”, it is easy to create an oversimplified stereotype,
but because I have heard the lectures, I know that things are not as they are spread…
In the Netherlands more than 100 years ago, we still gave him over-exaggerated gossip…
I decided to make it clear to the children~ Luckily,
I also got a copy of the National Geographic channel before class. ,
a picture book of the life of Van Gogh [Vincent van Gogh by National Geography Kids].
So we have the opportunity to get to know this painter who is too sensitive,
slender and overflowing with sympathy. He lived a short but hard life…
Xinguang Mitsukoshi has a Van Gogh Light and Shadow Exhibition,
so he will focus more on the introduction of painting and painters.

 

There are rumors that Van Gogh didn’t love girls,
so when Gauguin was about to leave the yellow hut, he was in so much pain that he had to cut off his ears…
Some people said that he was angry because he couldn’t stand his sister-in-law’s dissatisfaction
with him and didn’t want to continue funding him.
And cut ears…but none of that is true. Van Gogh and “high heels”
(= Gauguin, which helps children’s memory, so we took a nickname)
because of personal differences, they couldn’t live and paint together,
and they were cut when they were not sure who moved their hands during a quarrel ears.

In the process of being a mother and a teacher,
I realized one thing. In the past, when we were students, we often had a half-understood understanding of many things…” Oh~ I have an impression~ ah, that’s it…” But when I really asked me to explain why,
I realized that I couldn’t say it at all… Because… I just heard it but didn’t know what it was and didn’t even think about it.
After becoming a mother + teacher, I found that this is really terrible…
This kind of attitude is the best breeding ground for gossip~~~~
So I often ask my children questions in class, and even deliberately ask them back,
the purpose is to hope that they Start learning to think logically.

In addition to Van Gogh, there are many famous painters in the Netherlands.
And in almost every class in the past two months, I will take out a painting,
which is the anatomy class painted by Rembrandt. [The Anatomy Lesson of Dr. Nicolaes Tulp]
Because of the virus, in my previous video,
I introduced the concept of wearing gloves or masks in medicine more than 100 years ago,
because there were bacteria in the air at that time. Don’t know yet.
This painting also happens to be a very good testament (the doctor in the painting is dissecting the human body without gloves).
Since this class is an introduction to the Netherlands, it is even more important to come up with a good example~

 

In addition to Rembrandt who attaches great importance to light and shadow,
he [map] in our class also draws a pattern composed of blue, red, white and yellow different squares/rectangles.
Many children may have seen or created more or less when they were in art class. ,
which is also a feature initiated by the Dutch artist – Mondrian. It is even more interesting to talk about it here.
In a small Netherlands, the country that has risen in the past 400 years has such a rich history of painting.
The reason behind this is actually very straightforward. It’s a pity that the class time is too short.
Of course, the age of the children’s class is not suitable. Maybe in the future, we can discuss why?
Time points are closely linked. Learning how to summarize all the information
and then clarify these contexts is the new trend of education – the biggest feature of literacy education.

At the end of the class, I asked everyone to do a little guessing puzzle
that is quite difficult for children aged 4 to 6:
The following three painters, based on the content we have introduced in the class and our own intuition,

look at the line The order in which they appear.

 

Each child can quickly decide that Mondrian is the last painter (that is, the painter closest to our time),
and Rembrandt and Van Gogh can be felt from Rembrandt’s portrait and the anatomy without gloves.
He is from a long time ago. This is an interesting reasoning process~
The children are scrambling to raise their hands to talk about their thoughts. Seeing such “brainstorming”,
