2019.10 Shanghai | Chongqing

Shanghai is the last city where Lara and her children lived,
and many of her friends are still here. Returning to Shanghai to take classes is extra familiar…

Every time I teach, I have the feeling of teaching and learning,
and no class is exactly the same. In particular, the international culture class will be adapted to individual conditions,
and the composition of students in each class is the reason for class adjustment.
The country introduced this time is Germany, a major economic power in the European
Union and a major country in humanitarian relief for refugees.

Pudong – Preschool (4~6 years old)

Most of the children in this class had already experienced Russia once in April.
There were also several new partners who joined the class,
and the atmosphere of the whole class was lively.
Whether it was a 4-year-old child or a 2-year-old elder brother,
everyone had the courage to express their thoughts and opinions!
All the moms also have a high level of participation,
and the feeling that everyone is integrated into the class makes me addicted!
Given the young age of this class, more emphasis is placed on the understanding of continents,
animal time and picture book stories. We quickly remembered Asia and Europe and Africa by singing.

There are many animals, and a pair of wings can fly “Africa”

One of the interesting things is that when I talked about Grimm’s fairy tales,
I explained that the Brothers Grimm wanted to study different dialects in different parts of Germany at that time,
so they collected folk tales everywhere and compiled them into a book,
which is today’s Grimm’s fairy tales. .
This is like having Beijing dialect in Beijing, Shanghai dialect in Shanghai, and Yunnan dialect in Yunnan. Suddenly a little boy said:

That’s right~ I can only hear what you said, Mr. Lara, a little vague….

In order to maintain the “dignity” of the teacher, I said in an exaggerated reflex:

“Really! I think what I said is quite standard!”

Love the reaction, it’s always so real and funny when the kids say how they feel

I can concentrate on listening to the German story “The Big Wild Wolf and the Imaginative Little White Rabbit”

Gubei – Primary School (6~10 years old)

This class is a very special composition, coming from different schools:
together with children from Shanghai School, Japanese Overseas School, and International School,
the combination of Chinese, English and Japanese naturally appeared in the classroom.

Carefully study the location of the seven continents

In the class, we introduced the origin of the traditional German kink bread, and tasted the salty taste.
As a result, the more and more people ate, the more hungry they were.
After eating the bread, it was not enough! We also met a “Mr. Goose” (Gensfleisch – in German Gens means goose,
Fleisch means meat) who made a great contribution to the spread of European civilization.
This is the later famous “Gutenberg” (Johannes Gutenberg ) This is a person’s name, not a castle~
Don’t be like Mr. Lara before, I can’t tell the difference ^^

Although Bi Sheng of ancient China invented movable type printing in the Song Dynasty,
500 years earlier than Gutenberg, because Chinese pictographs are completely
different from the basic writing methods of European pinyin characters,
they have been unable to be used in Europe.
It was not until the advent of Gutenberg’s first movable type printed {Gutenberg Bible}
in AD 1455 that writing really began to spread in large numbers on the European continent.
So why is it called “Mr. Goose”?
Because Gutenberg was later renamed according to the place of residence,
when the father of the European movable type printing press was born,
his surname may have been derived from the occupation of the family father (goose seller),
called Gensfleisch. I was in class It is specially called “Mr. Goose”,
and I hope that children can get to know this important person and event in a humorous and interesting way.

Chongqing – Primary School (6~10 years old)

Most of the children’s shoes in this class are kindergarten classmates,
and their knowledge of the world is the first class I have taught in the class with the highest average knowledge!
I think this is due to their Montessori education.
Although my own children are not Montessori,
I have already heard that Montessori’s teaching aids attach great importance to children’s understanding of the world,
and the concept of geographical location is very good!

Such a smile makes being a teacher so satisfying~

In two weeks, it will be the favorite of mothers who are busy and stressed every day….Double 11….
What are you going to do on Double 11? Of course, I want to… go to Taobao! (Big mistake XD)
In fact, 11.11 is a very important sharing day in Germany, Austria, the Netherlands and other places.
Through a small cartoon in Germany, we got to know “Saint Martin – Saint Martin’s Day”,
which represents the spirit of helping the poor,
and the heart Having kind thoughts and helping others will not and should not change because of
the changing times. In the evening of this day,
children in Germany will carry lanterns and sing the songs of St.
Martin in the streets to commemorate this warm day of sharing.

The 3 classes this time allowed me to see the positivity and initiative of this group of children,
as well as a high degree of concentration. When I see the bright eyes of the children,
I seem to forget the time for class…
This is the best feedback from teachers.
What Lara can bring to children is this desire for the world!
Looking forward to meeting you next time with all the children!
